Red Card Cancer

Our History

Red Card Cancer began in the fall of 2009 on the campus of Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. What started as a tribute to founder Paul Payne’s long time friend and mentor, Joe Bochicchio, has grown into a 501(c)(3) organization with national reach and a growing impact on all levels of soccer in the United States. Since 2010, RCC has been closely affiliated with the internationally renowned Johns Hopkins’ Sidney Kimmel Cancer Research Center. In 2018, RCC entered into a new partnership with the American Cancer Society.

History of the LL League with Red Card Cancer

In 2013 two schools, both boys and girls teams, participated in a home and home series to promote and raise funds for cancer research.  Coach Hartlaub, of Conestoga Valley, sought out long time friend and Red Card Cancer founder Paul Payne for assistance.  Since then the LL League has raised money for the Kimmel Research Center at Johns Hopkins University.  In the 7 years the LL League has participated over $100k has been raised.  In 2019 the League raised $24,5k, the highest so far.  Please consider helping us in our efforts to beat last year's totals.
